How I accidentally got into art??!
Here's a piece I drew today, "Sunlight upon water or something like that."
Drawing has never been intuitive for me. My cousin was always the artist, if anything at best, I was the singer of the family and that was a place shared by both my sister and me.
After a point, writing became what I was known for, but that was also only for those who cared to read my work, which again, was half baked at best. Sure, for a 11 year old I wrote pretty impressive stuff because not many kids loved Shakespeare and RL Stevenson at 11. But after a point, you realise, there are so many people who write amazingly, but not many post that work and that's why you are the better writer.
However, it wasn't the pressing issue that made 14 year old Cathy shift to art. It was the fact that the number of people who read the writing were even lesser when compared to the writers themselves.
People wrote, but people did not read.
Naturally, I wanted to know why people didn't read. The more I was exposed, the more I realised that people loved seeing things better. Movies, videos, visual media. Those were the latest intrigue. And to this day, they continue to exercise that foothold.
So I thought, why not draw? Except, I had zero skills, no surface screen and no experience. But what I did have was a purpose, a vision to tell stories. And so I told them, badly at first, decently eventually and decently ish still (hopefully).
Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed this personal anecdote and I'll see you soon!
