Growth and Storytelling+Burnt Pants Update
(A digital art piece I drew that reminds me of pondering. Also pink coloured because today is Inkwell Day [MCC's very own writing club held on Mondays hehehe and we had our first session today, <with yours truly and Megha as coordinators for this year 👀> a fun time indeed]).
Before Script Note:
Previously when I mentioned that I burnt my pants, my friend (hi Pearlina) thought I burnt my leg as well. Fortunately it was only an ironing incident, hope that clears things for y'all. Anyways, this week I wanted to talk about how growth influences timeless creation and creative storytelling.
For a couple of years now, I've tried to wrap my mind around the ideal of how a creator can stay relevant throughout decades. And honestly speaking, I've come to realise that we are all mortals who die and most of us, even the creators, will not be remembered, although we might have immortalized certain things through different art forms. Our art sometimes dies with us or perhaps lasts a few years after us, or lives on. No one is sure of their sustenance. Such is the nature of life.
However, despite this being the case, one can still create timeless pieces while they live and hope to make an impact, even if it's only a small one. And that timelessness arises only when one is constantly changing, evolving and allowing themselves to grow as an individual. Otherwise stagnation fully hinders any sign of true creativity and creation is formed by a cycle of monotony. This stops possible statement works simply because the creator chose to be comfortable in a set environment.
So everytime you think, 'ahh perhaps my work feels similar to the last one', think about who you were when you made your previous work and who you currently are. If those two people are the same, then it's no wonder you can't tell a new story.
End of this week's yapper diaries (Kidding! You can find me at Instagram or YouTube to keep up with more yapping sessions)
