The Importance of Originality

We as humans sometimes are afraid to be original out of fear of judgement. But think about it, what's the use of fitting it. Validation maybe and some scattered appreciation. In such a case wouldn't it be better to utilise our uniqueness rather than constantly exhaust our energy to gain recognition? 

At the same time, it is important to understand that originality does not sprout by itself. It's built upon balance between reflection of self and understanding other people. So while fitting in itself is not the ultimate goal, we also cannot isolate ourselves if we want to grow and express originality. 

Perhaps then, let us not be afraid to branch out and voice out our values and stand up for what we believe in instead of being a clone of a culmination of people and hide under the opinions of others. Let us at the same time remember to respect others even if we disagree with them for originality simply becomes a pride statement if not backed with tolerance and genuine respect. 

PS: This was my first OC (original character) that I created during my digital art days with hand and phone. It's a beautiful reminder that even though this piece isn't ideal or perfect, it's still created from scratch and that really is the beginning of new and exceptional things in life.
